On Tuesday, May 19, a student from Daniel High School was killed in a single vehicle wreck.
According to the authorities, the accident happened shortly before 3.30 in the afternoon. Sixteen year old Matthew Christopher Robinson of Central was driving a 2008 Dodge on Brookbend Road when the car crashed into a tree. The reasons for the crash are not yet known.
The Pickens County Coroner’s Office said that he died at the scene. His passenger, also a juvenile, was injured in the collision and taken by Emergency Services to Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Troopers said that both were wearing seatbelts.
His school issued a statement saying that Robinson was an honor student who was held in high regard by his teachers. They also said that grief counselors would be available should fellow students wish to talk to them.
