On Friday afternoon, October 2, a Clemson University professor died in a two vehicle crash.
According to the Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 1.30 p.m. on the East West Connector near Concord Road around half a mile from the city of Anderson. Armando Enrique Montilla Navarro, assistant professor of Architecture, History and Theory and Criticism at Clemson University was driving a Dodge Caliber when his vehicle swerved across a lane of traffic and then into the oncoming eastbound lane and smashed into another vehicle. His Dodge was hit in the driver’s door by a Chevy Equinox and although he was wearing a seat belt he died at the scene.
The driver of the Chevy was taken to AnMed Health with unknown injuries and her current condition is unknown.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated and it is not known why Montilla swerved into the other lane.
Clemson University has said that they were saddened by the loss of a very capable, passionate, conscientious and talented educator.
